Taking up Smoking

If you haven’t started smoking, don’t start unless you want to have yellow teeth. That goes for any tobacco product from the puffing kind to the chewing kind. The habit has been proven to be bad for you all around, so there really is no reason to take it up.

Drinking Staining Substances

There are certain drinks like soda, coffee, tea, red wine, energy drinks, and the like, that contain colors and acids that stain the teeth. They have other ingredients harmful for dental health as well. Sugar and caffeine, one of which will increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth and up your risk of tooth decay, and the other of which can cause you to clench and grind your teeth. Best to reduce or eliminate from your life.

Blowing off Brushing and Flossing

If you aren’t regularly brushing twice a day and flossing at least once a day, then you are neglecting your oral hygiene. If you have taken a break from it altogether, you’re risking severe cavities and a huge dental expense down the road. Plus, the people around you can’t possibly like the smell of your breath.

Neglecting Regular Checkups

Even when you are a loyal toothbrusher and flosser, there simply is no substitute for regular dentist visits. The professional cleanings, fluoride treatments, and early detection of oral issues is something sorely needed to keep you smiling with your natural teeth for a long time to come.
